Celtics take 1-0 series lead
BOSTON - The Boston Celtics took a 1-0 lead in their Eastern Conference semifinal series against the Miami Heat with a 118-107 win in Game 1 on Sunday afternoon.
Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 29 points, followed by Jaylen Brown with 26 points and Marcus Smart with 20 points. Bam Adebayo led the Heat with 21 points, followed by Jimmy Butler with 18 points and Tyler Herro with 16 points.
The Celtics took control of the game in the third quarter, outscoring the Heat 31-14. The Celtics held the Heat to just 14.3% shooting from the field in the quarter, while making 60% of their own shots.
The Heat made a run in the fourth quarter, cutting the Celtics' lead to seven points with less than two minutes remaining. However, the Celtics held on for the win, making their free throws down the stretch.
Game 2 of the series is scheduled for Tuesday night in Boston.
